I found a used 150 about 4 hours from me.
It is one year old, with solid pine wood stand, oak trim. glass top with strip light. I think it is 4 ft long, 3tall? and 2wide. ?
Has a Rena Filstar filter, she wasnt sure what size, but in the picture the wand goes pretty far down the tank so it is probably one of the bigger sizes.
Has a heater, unknown brand.
Hang on box filter for a 60 gal she thought,
and gravel which I do not need.
Background-would use, decor rocks-would use
Asking price is 600.
I'm not sure what the cost of this would be new, she swears she paid over 1,000 a year ago. Looks to be in very nice condition.

Any ideas on this? worth it or not? The tank is set up now with water in it, so I am not worried about leaks.

Yeah, and also how bad you want it :D
$1 per gallon seems to be common. I don't doubt she paid over $1,000 for it all but finding many people that want a tank that size (locally, not here on the forums :D) isn't too easy. I'd say that's a fair asking price. Call around and ask what a new 150 goes for, it might help.

The $1 / gallon I usually only seen in the very common smaller sized tanks, like up to 75G. The actual cost of the tank gets proportionaly more the thicker the glass is and it sounds like your talking about a 150 tall (4'x2'x30") which should have 1/2" glass. They are new here on sale $360 but in other lfs closer to $450. I bought one used for about $150 (for the bare tank only) and it wasnt in that great of shape and I didnt even realize till I was unloading it off the truck was over 10 years old. After seing the poor shape I probably could have talked him down more but I didnt, oh well.

But if you beleive its practically new and in great shape then go for it, just remember your always taking a chance with used stuff.

The LFS up here in the backwater routinely charges 4 figures (current going price $1200) for full 150g setups. Sells atleast one a month, usually to businesses.

Were I to go to the nearest metro area, I could probably get a fully setup one used for around ~$500.

i think it really depends on where your at and how many tanks are for sell.

And how lucky you are

i did a quick search on craigslist and came up with these.
250 gall. - $300 PROTEIN SKIMMER AND PUMP,STAND ALSO INCLUDED
200 gal $80

Sold! Oh wait... shipping would be cost prohibitive dang.

I have been watching craiglist for aquariums for several months and never come across anything near that cheap around here, cali maybe, but not hear, atleast in the last few months. Seems like tanks over 120G only pop up maybe once every two weeks or so, and most all that size are sold as an entire system for well over $500. Good luck with whatever you choose!
