is this a sturdy tank?

Center braces are a fairly recent (considering I got my first tank in '68) development. It simply allows a manufacturer to use thinner glass and still not have the tank bow. I have a 20 yr+ old 150 "brickfront" that's 6' long and has no center brace. As long as the tank was manufactured without a brace it's fine. If it was removed that's not good. The tank does look small for a 120, but photos can be deceptive. ask the seller to measure it.A 120 is 48" x 24" x24".

i agree it does look way to small to be a 120g.. maybe email asking for meaurements

It could be a 120, 2x2x4'. Older tanks used thicker glass and didn't use center braces. Its hard to get a sense of perspective in the picture, it could just as well be a 40 breeder or something.

it looks like a 4x2x2 120g tank. Look at the sofa behind it, those are probably like 24" sections(plus or minus) making the tank 4' long....and if it's 4' long, then it definitely looks to be 2' deep and 2' tall.

I'd buy that in a heart beat. Offer $120, but even at $150 that would be a steal as long as it holds water. Ask them if it holds water and/or if you can test it for water when you pick it up. If it doesn't hold water, offer $80 to $100. That would be easy to reseal and would be simply awesome.

i dont think thats that great of a deal..you are going to get nickeled and dimed to death on lights/hood/stand/ etc. not a horrible price if it is indeed that size and I guess if you already have the accessories its an ok deal

I find that the $1 per gallon estimate breaks down the farther above 100g you get...as in, $120 for a 120g tank is unlikely, but $150 for a 120g is a good deal. If you could talk her down to $120 it would be a great deal.

Lights, hood, and stand can all be purchased or built for cheap if you're a savy shopper, but finding a big tank that cheap is rare.

Again, like you said, if it's really a 120g.

Looks like a 120 to me...
