I have been searching for ammonia and I have found three different named brand. They all say clear ammonia, but only one list the ingredients. It says it contains ammonia, distilled water, and cleangent solution(it either said cleangent or cleagnent). Is this ok to use for a fishless cycle? The other two just said contains ammonia in the warning.

Usually, if it says "clear ammonia" it's OK. (Shake the bottle, too. If it doesn't foam, that's good.)

Was the ingredient possibly 'chelating agent'? If so, that's OK. If it said 'clean agent' I wouldn't know what that might be, other than detergent, which isn't OK. Chelating agents won't cause any harm.

HTH,
Jim

when cycling my tanks, i use muck from one of the filters of my other tanks. it gets things going, as it would be part way through the conversion from ammonia/nitrite into nitrate, and so doesnt make the new filter do too much work at first.
