I have done all the things I was instructed along with the required reading. I now have reading of nitrate 0,nitrites .25 and amonia .25( they the amonia was over 8 I think it is great and the WC are really helping) Do yall think they are gonna continue to go down?
ok seamonkeys are a type of brine shrmp I am told and my question is are they safe for me tank? my grand daughter had them they are no longer watched so ned to be done something with.
1 last question.how long should I keep treating the tank for ich as the fish who caught it died and I am treating the new water before I add it to the tank and can I put the same filter back in after I am done treating?

forgot 1 more thing. I have noticed what looks like a snail on the side of my tank. Could it have come from the plants we put in and is it safe?
 
the snails will make great scavengers..only problem is hte mass repoducing ofr themselves... so you may have to clear out hte snails from time to time... the Seamonkeys/brine shrimp will get chomped up by your fishes unfortunately..
 
Treating for ich is usually recommended for at least a week after all syptoms are gone. If all your fish died, the risk would go away in a week or 2 but if you still have any live fish, I would not cut it short.
 
seamonkeys don't live for very long at all outside of saltwater. what did you use to treat for ich? copper will kill off any invertabrates you put in the tank - shrimp, snails, etc.
 
thanks for the info. I know I have still got some WC to go before we get the numbers the rest of the way down but at least we are well on our way. I almost did a little dance when i saw the amonia was at .25 as apose to the killer amounts we have been fighting. Also the guppy in the tank who has survived seems to feel better if her actions are anything to go by. She chases the bubbles,the babies,nibbles on the plants and is eating well.I am hoping all these things are a sign she feels good.
 
we were given a product called coppersafe and the boy at petsmart said it was what I needed.I treated the tank when I got home just as he told me to then when I did water changes I treated the water I was adding just prior to adding it. That was what he told me to do. I have been treating for 3 days so far and plan to keep it up I was just wondering how long I needed to do it.
 
I did not intentionally put the snail in the water I just noticed it in there this morning so it must have come home with the live plant. I would not intentionally put animals in harms way.Perhaps I am over sensitive I felt like you were implying I did this terrible thing. Plus sea monkeys are not grown in salt water they are grown in purified water and no salt gets added. But I dont plan top put them in the tank i was just curious if they could be put in the tank.
 
if you see 1 snail... u probably may have more..
 
so I should keep an eye open for them and remove them as I find them?
I have had such a hard time getting this tank safe I sure dont want anything to set us back too far.
Tonight my reading on the amonia was just above the 0 mark so thank goodness we are starting to win but thanks for the tips on the ich I will keep treating diligently for a couple weeks or more. the bottle actually says 1 month so maybe I should stick with it.
