i have a 75g sw reef tank with a emperor 400 and emperor 280 and a prizim delux protien skimmer and about 60lbs of live rock and 2 korilias #4 one comes one during the day and the other at night and tomorrow i get my MH 250W is this good or do i need a wet/dry filter set up ? thanks

Hob and Canister filters tend to cause problems with nitrates and the prizm skimmers well lets just say I have no use for them. I would try to put a fuge under your tank with a in sump skimmer but NOT a wet/dry because they tend to cause nitrate problems also. Live rock would be your filter if enough is in your tank like 1-1 1/2 lbs per gallon along with your fuge full of macro algeas.

how come you dont like the prizim skimmers ? ive had this tank up and running for alittle over 2 yrs and never had a problem with nitrates ect i had one hob switched it our for these 2 hob recently last hob wasnt very good but im happy with these hob

Prizm skimmers are one of the worst made, noisey, finiky pains in the ... there is....You can spend litterly days upon days getting the thing to start to skim...and bugger me, once it actually starts, its like it changes itself and the settings on the uplift tube go off....and you start all over again getting it running right....When it does skim, it skims very poor indeed....

However, with all the above said, they make great footballs or sand filled door stops :)

Yes, i played football with mine when i got sick of it and changed....

If you could get your prizm to actually work correctly, then your doing better than 99% of the "suckers" that bought one... and I fall under than "suckers" category.. $120+ in the trash for a Prizm Deluxe.

I've never had a problem with mine either. It's a little noisy but since I have an in-wall tank, it doesn't matter. Consistently pulls brown/green sewage smelling gunk out of the water.
