is this enough light for my plants?

my 20 gallon hood uses 18 inch flourescents and its 15watts. i can't find any 40 or 60 watt versions of it to get 2-3wpg!

Look for jebo hoods. They seem to be the only brand that offers higher wattage than that LightGLO crap.

That's true ...
but then again I constantly see people post that adding co2 and even ferts isn't needed in a low light tank =/

it's so confusing...

I mean when I posted about co2 people said not to bother i wouldn't see any change and I was like ohya? I'd show them and like things started growing like crazy despite what I read on these forums. :/

I never know what to think about lighting and all that.

I've noticed that "ohya, I'd show them" attitude in some of your posts when you contradict well-established guidelines for growing plants. It's not that C02 and ferts won't work, it's that they are usually not necessary in a normal low-light situation. Twig, you are not bucking the wpg rule, you are doing something completely different in your tank. People deserve to know this when you give them advice, don't you think?

You could always get a glass top for your tank, and put 1 or 2 shop light or aquarium light fixtures on top.
