Is this lighting okay?

I have a 10 gallon. I may get live rock for it soon.

I have a Mini Compact Fluorescent 50/50 10 Watt and I have a Marina 15W 120 Volts Aqua-Glo. Will these work? Thanks!

Many people will ask you this question, So I'll be the first... What are you wanting to put in your tank? Some things want more light, some want less, others want a different spectrum, and some really don't care...

Let us know what you want in your tank, and a experienced person will break down your options for you...

I have two damsels and 2 blue-leg hermit crabs. Also, I'm planning to get a false percela clown in about a month. I'm also planning to add live rock and will keep whatever lifeforms that grow out of it.

What kind of clown are you looking at? Im not sure what a false perc is personally but I know some clowns get really big. You may not be able to fit them in with the other fish. I also personally think that clowns are happier in pairs. I think the lighting should be ok, You might want to up to a 20watt bulb when you uprgrade. Ideally you want aprox. 3watt per gallon. Also try to buy a nice fake anemone for your clown...

BTW I need to take my own advice on the fake anenome thing, at least until I can support a real one.

For a fish only w/live rock tank, pretty much ANY light will do since its only purpose is to let you see inside the tank.

The two damsels may not take a liking to an intruder like the clown. Notwithstanding this, you'll be hitting you fish load limit in any event in a 10 gallon.

Clowns are completely happy without an anemone present. As false percula clown (i.e. ocellaris clown - the most common type you encounter in the LFS) will not get much bigger than a few inches long. They do seem happier in pairs but again may get territorial themselves.

Focus more on your cleaning crew and inverts. Get a few more hermits and half a dozen or so snails of various sorts. Maybe a cleaner shrimp as well. These creatures are interesting and colourful and add very little bioload relative to fish.

I was thinking of rearranging the decor in the tank when the clown comes to confluse everyone.

I bear a grudge against damsels since i had a three spot nearly bully my two clowns to death!

i would take the damsels back to the lfs and get a pair of perc clowns mine never leave each others side.
