Is this ok for moonlight ?

moonlight?

Sorry I won't be much help to your question ... I just had never heard that there was a light you could ad to your tank to give it a "night light" so to speak. That is really neat! How much did it cost and do you have to have a special hood for something like that?

I recently purchased a pre-built hood for my setup that has a moon-lite built into it by coral life. Their hoods have 1 1watt LED moon light per about 1~2 feet. These moon-lites are avaible comercially online(run a search for "moon light or moon-lite" on drfostersmith.com) What is the wattage on what you have on the tank? I love my moon light and from what ive heard it "increases the growth and reproduction of corals."

The hood is the standard one on my tropiquarium 68, the cold cathode is from my computer, i think it is 20 $ (canadian$), it is a 12 volt light so i use a 120 v to 12 v dc adapter.

JustPhish.com has a CSL moon-lite for $24.99. Not sure how good it is but if anyone knows then please inform the rest of us. Seems like a great price if it really works!
What are the negative effects or these moon lights? if any!
