FYI, mondo grass isn't a true aquatic (nor is the white acorus they sell) and will gradually die and rot in your tank. General rule of thumb, at PetWhatever, don't assume that the plants they sell are the type to survive, much less thrive in your tank.
They also often get in plants that look gorgeous and can be true aquatics, but were grown so pretty with just their roots in water. When you put such a plant in your aquarium, the existing leaves will generally die. Give it time, though, and new leaves will usually emerge that are conditioned to live completely underwater. My crypt was amazing when I bought it, 80% of the leaves died off within the first week, now it's back to looking great--though the color of the leaves are enormously different. Instead of the bright green they were, they're now a beautiful browny-bronze.
