My buddy has a 90G fish tank with 2 green terrors, 2 jaguars, and 2 jack demseys. Is that to much fish for the tank? Would these fish end up killing eachother in the near furture as they began to get bigger?

I dont think its a good idea to have 2 JD's in that size aquarium. JD's are VERY territorial, and that could possibly pose a problem in the future.

Two pair (I'm guessing he has them paired) of large, aggressive fish in a 90g is marginal at best. THREE pair, with one being jags, is never going to work! He should get the jags out and cross his fingers on the other two pair. As posted above, the jds are the LEAST of his problems!

I have one gt and one ebjd (with some other milder cichlids) in a 75g (which is the same footprint as the 90g - depth doesn't really matter much with cichlids), and I'm concerned about what will happen when they get to be 8-9" or bigger. Your friend has SIX of them in what is essentially the same size tank!! It's going to be open warfare when they get bigger - if it isn't already.

I'm inclined to agree; the jags need the 90g tank. The dempseys would probably work ok in 55g, but it's marginal because of the shorter width. I don't know if the gts can get along with the jags in the 90g - Maybe if you break up the sight lines well enough. Any way you look at it, one of those pairs probably has to go eventually.

He has moved the Jags into a 55G tank for the time being.(there only 4 and 2 inches) And now has 3 JD and 2 GT in the 90G.

Well, that's ok temporarily, but he's still got some decisions to make before too long. He's got 5 large-growing and potentially aggressive cichlids in that 90g, and he may get a couple pairs out of it also. If I'm worried about what's going to happen a year from now with my ONE ebjd and my ONE gt in a tank that is essentially the same as his, then he ought to be losing sleep over his FIVE!!
