Is this okay as a preventative?

According to Faith from bettatalk.com, it's okay to use Aquari-sol as a preventative in fish tanks. Do any of you use this product as a parasite and fungus preventative? Would it be bad to use it this way?

Thank you.

I am not a big believer in putting things in the water to prevent something that is not there in the first place. Just keep up with your water changes and regular maintenance or the tank and you should be just fine without the use of this product.

it's NEVER a good idea to put chemicals in your tank when there's nothing to 'treat' for. neither aquarisol nor any other 'drugs' will effectively prevent bacteria or parasites but rather, will facilitate the development of drug resistant mechanisms.

and mistrust anyone who tells you to put "preventative" chemicals in your tank.

I guess the question is would you take an antibiotic every day to possibly prevent a future disease of unknown origin?

Good point. When the stuff is in the water always, resistant strains may appear. Then you have to find a different fix. Not good. Always keep your aces in your sleeves!! LOL

I don't know that it makes a difference, but she only recommends one single solitary drop of Aquarisol. Its not like you are adding lots of chemical. But I sorta wonder if that small an amt would do anything beneficial either..
