Is this pellia

So we bought this driftwood a while ago and planted the tank. On the spot where this mystery plant is growing we squished some pellia to it. It grew for a while, but died. I removed it. That was a while months ago. Now in the area where it was, some unique plant is growing. It doesn't look at all like Pellia and has been growing for a while so if it was going to get leafy it would have by now.

Algae and stuff is growing all over the log, but this stuff is only growing in one spot. I tweaked the pictures to get better contrast and sharpness, so if they are grainy, that's why.

Looks like black beard algae if you aren't talking about the java moss. The moss is the green stringy stuff but the algae is the black bushy stuff.

I wonder how java moss managed to get in there.. I was actually doing my best to make sure none of it got in there.

Sneaky bugger that java moss.
