Is this possible? mag350 & mag220

i have a old mag 220 and a mag 350 everything is the same on them but the impellor magnet and fin blades on the mag 350 is a bit bigger then the 220. my 350 impellor magnet is worn out after many years of use so i switched the magnet from the 220 but used the 350's plastic blades on the 220 magnet they are interchangeable and fits perfect. so i put the 350 back together with the 220's magnet but using the 350's impellor blades and turned it on now this thing is blowing so much water it damnnnnn near looks like a underwater tornado. how can it be pumping so much more water then the 350 ever did even when the magnet wasnt worn out? could it be the tad bit smaller magnet with the larger 350 fin blades is spinning much faster since i am using the mag 350 motor base not the 220's? well it was amazing to me maybe no one else LOL

anyone else ever do this switch a roo of parts from a mag350 and mag220? the mag220 uses the same exact pieces and looks idential to the 350 the only difference is the label on the motor base says mag 220 on it.

Measure the impeller magnets, see if they are the same size and weight? Interesting though...

I would guess that the magnet is the reason. If your 350 magnet was very old and worn, it would effect how well it can rotate. You will also see some May 330s out there besides the 220...all variations in the design over the yrs of the end result 350.

Also remember that the blades are bigger and being an HOB their is far less load on the 250 pump. If you to attach hoses and lower the 250 even 7" below the water line the flow would almost stop. So what your seeing is high RPM, large blade, low pressure demand. Whereas the 350 has more windings in the stator (motor) and applies more torque so that even under pressure and even when it clogs, it can still pump good flow.

You just seeing a difference in because of those larger blades like saying you can go faster with bigger wheels on a car only to sacrifice power on grades uphill same thing.

Oh wait your talking about the reverse that the 350 is blowing hard. So in that case Rbishop is correct the original old magnet may have lost its magnetism as I assume its a temporary made magnet not natural. A good lesson to consider when this happens in the future.
