Hey guys,

I have a 10 gallon setup with the following fish: 2 guppies, 2 Glo-Fish (aka Zebra Danios), 3 Neon Tetras and a Cory Cat.

I would really like to add 1 or preferably 2 more Cory Cats to keep my 1 from getting lonely. Would I still be able to maintain a healthy tank at that level? I am pretty meticulous about upkeep. I do a 10-15% water change weekly and feed lightly.

Thanks!
-Jeremy

a 10 (U.S) gallon setup should hold around 15" of fish, so you should be able to introduce a couple more Cory's without any problems.

a 10 (UK) gallon setup will hold around 24" of fish, so will take the Cory's and more.

You propably could- and probably should get a couple more Cory they are a species that like company... So are Danio actually... and Neons really like more company than that.

On a tank that small you need to stay on top of water changes... especially with cats in there.

Oh- and a great excuse to get a bigger tank sometime... ;) most of you fish would prefer more company of their own kind... Danios are a small fish, but they really like room to swim.

I'd love to get a bigger tank. I'd like to have a 30 gallon freshwater & a 55 gallon reef tank, but I'm going to have to wait until my living conditions allow it. Thanks for that advice, I'm glad I'll be able to give my little cory some company. Another quick question, does it really matter if I get exactly the same species of cory cat? I want them to school together and socialize.

Thanks again,
-Jeremy

Hi Jeremy, it would be good if you could get the same variety of Cory, but it shouldn't make any difference if you don't, you'll just get hybrids
if they breed.

You have room for more, but those danio would prefer a 20 gal long for swimming space.

I also wouldn't rely on ANY inch of fish per gallon rule. They are completely unreliable. You did the best thing...posted here with tank size and the fish you have, and asked for advice.

:thm:

Three cories of the same species would be preferable. They would be inseparable and more interesting to watch. Unrelated cories will do OK together but would not school as tightly.
I would up the water change to 25% or more with a full fish load.

you can add a couple of cories

but glofish (danios) Should NOT be kept in anything smaller than a 20g (preferably a 20 long)

I would rehome them... and then add 4 cories! lol

You need a couple more cory they do great if in a school. In my 36g I have 3 albino cories and I love them they are just adorable very active and swim all over the place. What type of cory cat do you have?
