I've been trying to decide how to stock a cycled 20 gallon tall for a while now. This is what I have come up with:

1 Dwarf Gourami
1 Small Angelfish
6 Cardinal Tetras
6 Platies

I am aware that Angelfish have been known to eat tetras but as of right now the tetra would not be able to fit in the small angelfishes mouth, I'm hoping as they grow together this doesn't change.

Are these fish compatible? Do I have to many? Can I get more? Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

Too many platys, and a 20 gallon is too small for an angel fish, and angel's are also known to eat small tetras as you said. The angel isn't going to stay that small for long.

I bought a very small Angel back in mid July. Now some 3 1/2 months later it's body is as big as a silver dollar! So I have to agree with Omega, I think a 20 gal will be too small for an Angel in just a matter of months.

I would cut the platies to about 3 or 4...make sure they are all males or females cuz u will have a lot of babies. Also get rid of the angel: reason 1: tank too small, reason 2: angel will fight for territory with gourami, reason 3: small tetras= thanksgiving dinner. After you get rid of the angel and 3 platies, i would add more cardinals and maybe 3 cories? or some snails? or maybe 2 kuhli loaches? Whatever suits you best, but make sure all the fish will be compatible.

That's just my 2 cents

Good luck!!! :cool2:

If I get rid of the angelfish is their another "centerpiece" type fish I could put in there to go along with the gourami?

Ok maybe I'll change it to

1 Dwarf Gourami
4 Platies
8 Cardinal Tetras

Is their anything else I could add or am I at my limit? I would love to have 1 more slightly larger fish if possible.

With that list, maybe add a little something to keep the bottom clean. A couple Otocinclus or Cory cats?
