is this tank overstocked?

not really overstocked but inappropriately stocked. clown plecos grow pretty slowly. it's convenient to say "no it can't get the pleco, the pleco hides on a shelf" but is it really fair to force the other fish to hide all the time to avoid being eaten?

not only that, but if your clown pleco is a Panaque maccus (rather than a peckoltia pulcher), it *requires* driftwood as a part of its diet. panaques are wood eaters for the majority of their diet - it is what they are designed for. they can go a long time without it, but eventually they will waste and die. even if wood is introduced later on, it is possible that the cellulose-digesting bacteria in their gut have already died, and the plecos will starve to death with plenty of food in front of them. i recently went through this with some imported lyretail panaques - it was not a pretty sight, and there was nothing i could do.

guys its not that i dont agree but what am i to do? the only fish that has ever been caught by my cray was a glo light tetra which just sat there like it was begging to be eatin, second i am not someone with mts thus i have no where to put the cray, what do i do stuff it in a cup? it was wild caught so i have no idea what it is all i know is its a male, my plan to upgrade my tank is very soon considering its fall, i will upgrade, my system is upgrade every winter with a heater and 10 gallon larger tank, the pleco does have wood he has had wood since he was introduced to the tank and he had wood in the store believe it or not.

i have a 10 gallon, with 3 2.5 inch minnows, a crayfish, and a clown pleco, if it isnt overstocked how much more could i put into it?

note, it is semi plastic planted an has 2 rock caves and a plastic rock formation, shelf.

the pleco does have wood he has had wood since he was introduced to the tank and he had wood in the store believe it or not.

i said my part about the wood because you don't mention it in your initial post, all you say is you have plastic stuff.

well i do have plastic stuff. but i have wood too lmao didnt mean to sound like a jerk watuga

You can take the pleco back to the store you bought it from. You said you will buy a heater, so that means that you don't already have a heater in your tank huh? If that is so, then you shouldn't have bought your fish if you don't have a tank at the temperature that they like.

lol it depends on what his water temperature is. I have a room in my house that is like 28C cause it is always in the sun and that is in the winter. If he has a room like that and the water is up to temp then it should be fine. If that isn't the case then that would be bad but I think you are jumping to conclusions.

the water is just right, i have a window to the west and north but they're huge pane windows. i
