Is this the right stump remover?

I picked this up as I am looking to get to the less expensive way to keep my nutrients up for my tank.

I see people talking about "stump remover" but I wanted to verify this was the right stuff before I try dosing a tank with it. It's Green Light brand stump remover, it mentions potassium nitrate on the back of it and seems like a white granule type substance.

Is this the same type of stump remover you guys are using?

When I got it at home depot the guy told me "well that's not a chemical it's just alot of very potent bacteria that eat away at the stump. "

I worried, but then I realized this is the same person that probably sold table saws until people started making fun of his three missing fingers and he was transferred to lawn and garden.

Hey Skippy, you're a riot. If it says potassium nitrate on the back that's what it is. I had the same hesitation with the brand I bought because it didn't list any other ingredients. But after much research I found that they don't put any others there because it's 100% potassium nitrate.

How much of stump remover do you use?

1/4 teaspoon per 20-30 gallons will do... assuming your tank has 0 nitrates.

My 100 gallon tank was testing at 0 nitrates, added 1.5 teaspoons of stump remover, the next morning I was testing just a touch over 10ppm.

Now I will wait and test again Saturday, see how "hungry" for it my plants were. I have already noticed increased pearling, but I don't know if that's a result of nitrate level or not.
