Is this too much driftwood?

looks absolutely amazing Que :)

looking good!!

I think it's gorgeous... can someone break it down for me (the newb) how the java moss stayed there? I saw thread and lead weight, but I'm not understanding how they were used. TIA.

Thanks for all the nice compliments.

awesome Q, love the tree-like look.

Thanks... all the moss is just kinda weighted and threaded on so I could see if I like it. I think I do, so now those 2 pieces have to come out and I have to secure some moss down close to the wood with thread and tacks and basically start growing from scratch. It'll be a few months before it comes back to looking anything like it does now but it'll be thicker and more natural looking.

I had a large mass of java moss that was attached to a hollow log that just didn't work out in this tank. It took up too much real estate so I stripped it off the hollow log and took clumps of it and positioned it on the wood to see if it would look good. To do this I made some loops of thread with slip knots and kinda lassoed the moss to the wood. In other spots I simply put lead weights on top of the moss or made "C" shapes with the weights and clamped the moss to the wood. Mind you this was just to see if this would look OK and since it does I'll take this out and do a more proper job of attachment so the moss can take hold and grow on the wood. Right now its kind of just floating around like a kite on a short string.

I tried something different and I'm rolling with it but I'm not too happy just yet. What do you guys think?
