Issue with Convicts

This morning I noticed that my female Convict was bent in a half moon shape and consistently swimming in a spiral fashion and running into everything. All of the other fish were nipping at her so I decided to remove her from the tank. This is the second Convict that I've seen this with (last one was almost a year ago) but I have no idea what causes this. The water parameters are perfect and all of the other fish look great and are acting normally. Any idea what may be going on here?

It would be my guess that your fish have picked up either a parasite or some sort of infection.

I would guess at the possibility of having whirling disease. There are 2 ways to treat it: a). Treat with Quinine Sulfate. b). remove fish from the tank into a hospital tank and treat with Methylene Blue for 3-5 days. However it hasn't been proven to be a consistently reliable treatment. Take a water sample as close to the bottom as you can and cap off before bringing it to the surface. Test for suitability.

Thanks excuzzzeme. Unfortunately she didn't make it long enough to treat her. What's so surprising to me is that she was fine the night before but reading up on "Whirling disease" it seems that it's not all that uncommon for it to appear so suddenly. Do I need to worry about the other fish at this point?
