IT has BEGUN!!!

So more updates...

the stand is in design faze and will be built this weekend. Going 2x4 construction, with white oak covering to make it look pretty :D

I'll be making a hood out of oak too, so I may/may not start that this weekend.

Lighting will be a 4ft shop light with either a spot light on the ends or just centered..will need to try it before i decide.

Filtration *shutters*

still haven't decided yet, but i'm pretty sure i'll go with a left to right flow, i want to build an overflow for the quietone to create surface movement.

Decor will be created using styrofoam and egg crate to make a natural looking rock substrate to help keep down weight.

Questions...comments...ideas...suggestions...are always welcome!

hello :)

Today i spent most of the day building a stand. Basically I used a standard wall style construction for the most part with 2x4's. This should be plenty strong enough to hold the tank and everything in it. So I'll post pictures sooner or later.

OH it looks soo much better in person! I used 2x4 doug fur for the support/frame (20" on center) then i used a white oak vaneir for the main covering (ligher looking oak) then the trim was made of red oak taken off of our property, milled, plained, routed, shaped to what it looks like, all my me and my father, the doors are made from 3/4" red oak ply which we routed the edges and painted them black. from the front you can't even tell it's plywood :) cheap doors! Best of all it cost me a grand total of 50 bucks :)

I'm going to put maybe two or three coats of poly on, to seal the wood, and make it shine some, but it's not as shiny as it is in those pics.

More to come on the road to the 130 :)

Looking good, really!

So i was looking at it today...this thing is going to be huge :) I mean i've had the tank for a month now...on my floor...but the tank/stand/hood combo (hood hasn't been built yet..) is going to be massive :) I'm fearful of how i'm going to filter this brute!

I was going to pick up some canister filters, but now i'm worndering if two will be enough, i'll probably need 4 right....
