So, around noon yesterday, i walk downstairs to my tank, flip on the light, let them calm down from the shock of the light, and watch them for a bit like i do everyday. I noticed that my salvini laid eggs AGAIN and it rightfully kicking every fishes *** that comes near them, which is completely normal for her.

So i then had to leave the house for a couple of hours. I got back around 2.30 or so.

Walked downstairs to go and feed them. Noticed something odd, My beautiful bright green with amazing blue and red coloration, IS GONE. Nowhere to be found. I began tearing apart the tank. All the rocks i had stacked up were pulled out. No salvini. Checked the floor around the tank, nothing. Checked the rocks, didnt see anything. at this point im frantic because i had that fish since it was about an inch, and it got to about 4 inches. Seriously the first cichlid i ever purchased.

I assumed that the "others" (Convicts, True Texas, Texas hybrid, and a jag) finally got sick of her being a ***** and finally took their revenge. I wondered why they didnt eat...catfish also looks a little bigger too. I thought she became a meal.

Now the strange part, I ran out again for a bit and on my way home stopped at the LFS to see if they had any good looking salvinis in stock, negative. all poorly colored and chewed up, so ill go back later and check for a good one. When i got back home i walked downstairs to ponder some more about where that fish went...and i found it...dead stuck to my filter inlet.

I was so **** confused. I had every rock and piece of driftwood OUT OF THE TANK, NOTHING. I still dont know where she was hiding. Im guessing up behind the heater or something.

Does anyone else have any wierd mystery stories?

I've had Cichlids hide behind the HOB filter overflow as well.

well i had a batch of guppy about 1in long living in my filter i went to change the carbon bag and 6 little guppy feel out.... i have no idea how they got there but... it was odd

My betta had me worried once...his first night in the 46 gallon I woke up in the middle of the night freaked out the current from the HOB must be too much for him and he must be exhausted, stuck to the sponge on the inlet since he has such a long flowing tail...So I got out of bed and spent 10 minutes with a flashlight to trying to find him. I was about to give up and try to get some sleep when I finally spotted him resting between the heater and the glass, between the suction cups. He's "slept" there every night since...my digi-thermometer usually reads pretty close to 78.5, so I don't think he's cold, and when it's light out he prefers to rest under one of the java fern up front. Crazy fish...
