it's all gone terribly wrong....i think?

thankyou for the advice. got the blighter working yesterday.....i was so so happy to see all those little bubbles of joy....that makes me a bit sad doesn't it lol.
all the tubing was fine....unfortunately i don't know how i resolved the check valve issue....just did a bit of fiddiling and... bubbles :D
the cloudiness has gone *hurrah* but the water seems to be doing nothing.....the pH, nitrites and nitrates have all stayed the same....i'm still treating the water etc....i don't know whats going wrong....been cycling for a week now. i know patience is a virtue but i thought SOMETHING would be happening by now!

awwww :(
lol
it's so exciting...
i sit and stare at it now, i wonder what i'll be like when there is fish in there lol!

My toddler keeps sitting next to me saying, "fish, where are you!" i think he's as excited as me!
i've discovered that, apparently 'cycle' (what i'm using to try to help the water cycle) is over estimated....what would any of you suggest to help the fishless cycle out? people keep telling me try pure ammonia but since i'm new to all this i don't know what this is!
when i was a kid it was buy a tank get some gravel and put a fish in it. lol, all my fish lived for years so this is all so new and exciting!

ammonia is the cleaning agent, you can buy it at walmart. You want the kind with no additives (surfactants or scents). You use that to provide a consistent food source for the developing bacteria. You could also try biospira instead, its a refrigerated bacteria product. People have had mixed results. You are supposed to add the biospira with fish, then add more biospira after some time has elapsed (not sure on the duration as i have never used it).
