It's that time of year again...

The orange blossoms are killing all the allergy folks around here including my son. The smell is nice but it's almost overwhelming. There is yellow stuff all over the VEEhicles.

Harlock, My dad and I have a intolerence to corn derived sweeteners like corn syrup and the generally bad for you high fructose corn syrup. the corn sweeteners are cheaper than regular sugar and the stuff has some other properties that make food manufacturers want to put it in just about every thing.

If I get enough corn syrup intake I have some pretty bad reactions but the thing that has really made me want to cut it totally out of my diet is that eating even one item that has a little in it during a two week period will make my reactions to allergens worse. Any marginal alergy or intolerance is also made worse by just the one thing with corn syrup in it.

I could go on about the over all dangers of sugar itself but more people seem to have problems with the corn durived variety that I thought I would put this out as one lifestyle thing that might or might not improve things if you tried cutting it out.

Thanks Snake! I shall look into that. I skip a lot of stuff like that already. I drink diet drinks, for instance.

It is a real challenge to eat and avoid the corn syrup as it is in 3/4 of the spagetti sauces, bread (it makes it brown better), prepared frozen foods(it helps prevent freezer burn), wheat thins, most icecreams, yogerts, condiments(it makes the viscosity better so it is easyer to dispence), ...... and on and on...

if I go to someone's house who does not think about food haveing it in it I end up eating something simple as a majority of things have it.

Not trying to discourage you just letting you know my experience in finding foods without it.

if you decide to try to cut it out let me know and I can give you names of brands of prepared diet staples that are ok, as well as ideas of things to eat instead of somethings that just don't come without cornsyrup.

I have allergies too and it really stinks!! That is if I could actually smell anything... Its like I have a cold all year round. I don't seem to get better or worse at any particular time of the year, just a constant sniffle :mad2: . I imagine my 3 dogs :dog: and 3 cats don't help. Just got a prescription for zrytec, one of the few I haven't tried yet, we'll see how it goes

I have the name Sickboy(van wilder)
I'm usually the first to get everyone sick. Everyone is sick but me. Its a good feeling. Last time I was sick, I still went to work, they say I call in too much, and just worked. A week later everyone was calling in sick. Justice was served.. The whole company was sick but me... I felt like I was in one of those flu/cold commercials where everyone is sick but the one person who used that right brand...and he's walking around like "hey bob!" and bobs all half dead. That was cooler than coolant
