I've been wanting this for a long time.........

I saw one at my LFS and wanted it badly, but it look a little aggresive and didnt think i would fit full grown in my 20, or would eat everything in my 90. but someone said its ok in a comunity? or something like that? At my LFS it was labled as just "vampire" and at a different one it was a "vampire baracuda"(sp)?

i just got some more info and they can reach 50 inches and 39 pounds. Are there diffrent smaller species, i am very interested.

Depending on the species...... I still don't have a positive ID on this guy yet so we'll see.

Likely scomberoides, as they comprise 99% of the ones in the trade, although you do see the occasional armatus.

Just an interesting note for you....as far as I am aware, the genus Hydrolycus is from the root Latin Hydro (= water) and Greek Lykos (= wolf)...so you have a water wolf.

Whoa, are those its teeth?

What a great looking fish- shiny and big-eyed. How big is he?

It's such a great feeling finally getting a certain fish after wanting it a while. Congratulations!

No, there his dentures:D

Actually I found out that it's a Hydrolycus tatauaia which maxes out at about 17" and is slightly more aggressive than the scomb.
