Please remember the EBJD frys are very hard to raise as they are supposed to have a bad immune system. So you would need to extra prepared. Next time take the fry in a week and then keep your water changes every day.... Its hard to raise EBJDs even when they are 2" long so I presume its harder for them to even get to 2". Dont worry they will have babies again and you willl be better prepared.
Well I should have listened. The parents were taking care of the remander of the fish. It's 4 weeks later now. The male got rather agressive the past week and wouldnt let the female eat. Out of consern for her I put the male in another tank. Came home and the female at some of the fish. Now I only have 12 left. Who would have guessed out of the 2 parents the female being the more protective one would have been the one to do this. I learned a lot from this batch.
Maybe they will breed again soon. It's now a month later. How often do normal Jacks breed?
keep her in the tank you will be breeding them in and condition her and him for a week on brine shrimp, krill or any high protein food. then re-introduce him to the breeding tank and it should happen again rather quickly. from what ive read they can breed again as early as 1 month or up to 2 months....in everyones experience they breed a bit faster if you take the fry away before 1 month. an example being that on a post i read they guy removes the fry 12 to 14 days after they are free swimming and his produce again 4 to 5 weeks after they layed the first batch. so just condition them for a week and they may be ready again by then.
