Part of me hopes that was sarcasm, and part of me hopes it wasn't. either way, 75g would be a minimum for 3 JD's, and 90 or more would be needed for 4 especially if they decided to breed. adding a 4th to a 30g would not help anything, there isn't room for dither fish let alone another big cichlid.

I just want to echo what everyone else is saying. I love Jack Dempseys, they're my favorite fish. Please get a bigger tank or at least get rid of the abused one. This is one case when the 1" of fish per gallon rule does not apply at all. I know it sucks to give up a fish, and I know few of us can afford to just buy a 75 gallon tank, but I can't see your situation improving otherwise.

In the end, it's obviously your decision, and I hope things work out for you! Best of luck.
