Can anyone help me to determine if my JD is a male or female? I would like to get a mate for it.

Thanks:help:

it looks like a male they usually have a red stripe on the top fin and pointed anal fins.

He was in the fish bowl for 10 days when I first got him because I didn't know he needs a big tank. I brought a 1 gallons fishbowl for him. Sorry!!! The fish was given to me and I had no fish before this JD. The person gave it to me said that I can put him in a fishbow?????!!!!!! I have gotten him a 10G tank for now and need to save up some money to get him a bigger tank. He is about 3 inches long. Thanks

By the way, I did get him 10 feeder fish from Petco the other day. 12 cents each. He ate 5 of them in a day. I think he didn't eat when he in the bowl and he did seem getting thinner by the day. Now, he is a little fat boy again and momma is going to get him a wife!!!!

Thanks

By the way, do I need to get the same kind of dempsey to mate with my Joseph (I named my JD Joseph!!!)

Thanks

Don't add another until you upgrade the tank to 55-75g.:) The guy was wrong to tell you about keeping the fish in the bowl. It happens a lot of times. Don't worry about it. You learn from mistakes.

On another note, don't feed him feeder fish unless you can quarantine them. Feeder fish can carry parasites and illnesses thus affecting your fish. There are plenty other foods available out there. Try New Life Spectrum.:)

Oh! I was trying to be nice to Joseph!!! Hope my feeder fish are clean. So they (JD) can live on dry food, right? Thanks

Did you buy a filter, heater and hood for your 10 gallon tank?
