I'd say female.
 
Difficult to say from the pic.In females of almost all the cichlids the dorsal fin is usually rounded
 
With dempseys you can usually tell by the gill plates. A female will have more spots and spangles while a male will not. So I think you have a female.
 
This is a male, notice the gill plates are much less colorful compared to yours.
You have a really nice looking dempsey.

caudal fin in the top looks female, more pointy on the bottom. Hard to tell on the colouration. All in all, presuming the top is accurate, I'll say female too.

very nice fish too btw.
