I have 2 JD's in a 40 gal with a couple of baby blood parrots and some small clown loaches.. The tank has a sand substrate with lots of driftwood and plastic plants and a whole lot of hiding places.

From what I've read they're showing the behaviour of a mating pair.. lip-locking every now and then and a bit of chasing.. they're about 4" to 5" each and I've been told i have a male and female... I was told that when you're jd's are stressed they lose colour and the more dominant jd's usually have a much darker colour.. both my jd's are very dark in colour and they get along really well.

I usually treat them with a couple of minnows, one for each of them and within a couple of minutes they're usually gone.. but not today. One minnow is still happily swimming around..

Is it possible that the female is carrying? If so, What should i do? I don't want to interfere but i also would like all the fry to survive. Any Ideas?

Jack dempseys don't "carry." They lay eggs on a hard surface (flat stone, side of the tank, cave, etc.) Unless you see a bunch of eggs attached to a hard surface somewhere in your tank, they haven't spawned.

Lip-locking can be mating behaviour, but it can also be a test for dominance between two fish regardless of sex.
