Has anyone housed these awsome catfish. If so what was your tanks setup and where they aggressive? How did they eat and what where they like thanks. Im looking to buy one

Usually kept at least 18" deep tank (40 G breeder or larger)with close to neutral & soft to mederately hard water. I would not call it aggressive but just simply carnivorous.
It has been too long since I kept few but recall keeping them with other similarly sized cats (lima, tiger shovel, rafaels, pimelodus, etc) w/o problem but can be more territorial than other compatible cats, especially in well aquascaped tank which provide nice niche called home for him/her.

Its a beautiful fish and if memory serves, eggs are fertilized internally before laying them.

Enjoy.

Most catfish keepers complain the reason of rehoming theirs is because they NEVER SEE THEIRS once its in the tank.

If youre going to get one for a showpiece its not a catfish that will show itself. I have those guys and they're cool however I see more reclusive plecos more though

hey totally agreed! It will not budge once it found its favorite hiding spots, despite many attempts from other fish to get in the favorite hole. I had to resort hand feeding few of them myself to make sure they eat. I had a 5'' shove out a 10'' raphael out of its pvc pipe because it liked it there. Those guys are all about their hiding spots.

Im not worried about it hiding its a cat. And thats what most cats do. I am wondering If he will eat my Emerald Cory Cats?
Also What did you feed yours and how did you present the food.

I would not keep them with emrald cory/any cors for cory's sake as well as Jaguar's sake.

Trying to remove stucked cory cat out of predator's mouth is not fun!!! I wonder what others will say about stress factor during this procedure???

Give them subdued lighting over bright lighting if you want to see them out more often.

I dont think you will have problem with feeding. They should eat any foods, live, fz. chunks of beef/pork/chicken/fish.

Would not do fine flakes as it can be pretty meshy. Stick to chunky/duro flakes if posible instead of fine flakes buyt not as main diet

I have to agree with you 100% that if he swallowed a emerald Id be In for one ruff day...probably lose both if lucky only the jaguar. Anyways I have decided to go a different rout and add to my emerald catfish school, I am currently looking for the two semi rare species of Brochis. I am looking for the Giant Emerald Catfish(Brochis Britskii) and The hognoes Emerald Catfish (Brochis Multiradiatus)

Snookn21, who is a vendor here I believe, has some on aquabid right now.
He has small 2 inchers a 2 fish for $45 plus shipping, and he also has some 6-8 inch fish for $35 each plus shipping. I have purchased from him before, he's a really great vendor!
