Hi all,
I got a lot of brown algae blooming in my 40 gal tank..
I'm looking for a algea janitor. any suggestions?
my inhabitants include
pair sailfin mollies
pair swordtails
3guppies
2 bosemani rainbows
5 phantom tetras
7 neons

in the past i had chinese algea eaters.. they did a great job but either out grew my tank or were not hardy. i'd rather not get them
i do not want snails either because last time they bred like wildfire...

any suggestions that will go good with my tank and can eat this algae?

thanks for the help

cali

What exactly does this 'brown' algae look like? If it looks like a brown film, then a group of otocinclus or 'otos' should do the trick. Get as many as your tank will allow. 3 or more would be best.

If it's hairy or fuzzy looking, then rosy barbs would be a good choice.
