Java Fern Burn?

btw...nitrate burn is black from my experiences.

My Java Ferns are all splotchy. Right now, I set-up a growing tank where I can grow there sprouts and hopefully stock my tank with them. Anyways, my Java Ferns are light green, dark green, light brown, and dark brown.

Mine look like that too...but keep growing. Every so often I'll go thru and pluck out the brown ones.

Mine sprout up from the rhizome but a round down to stubs before they can even leaf up.
