Jaysn AC Members Jan 16, 2007 303 0 0 Mar 25, 2007 #7 That will happen to older java fern leaves. A lot of mine were like that when I bought them too. You may see little plantlets growing out of some of the spots. I'll usually wait to clip leaves that look like that until they start to turn yellow.

I freaked when mine did that but then I saw baby plants growing on the spots and I was all WOOHOO!
