Java Fern roots

Hi all,
According to my last post, there were some root-like brown caterpillar-like objects growing from the tips of my java fern, and it is most likely to be growth. I was wondering if I should try to anchor the plant down to a rock with strings and get the plant to grow around the rock, because it would look better than just rooted to the gravel on the ground. I'm not sure if the java fern will even stay attached once the string is removed, but I thought it was an idea. Has anyone ever done this with java fern, or know what i'm talking about? That's exactly what I would do . ..

jkust add some string to a rock, or ssome bog/drift wood, wait a while until it anchors, and get rid of the string.


Never had any poroblems with it, , , ,

either use a dark sewing thread or if you want youc an use fishing line

I used black seweing thread because by the time it rotted away the plant was well anchored to the driftwood.

That sounds great, I have a couple of java fern already in the gravel but will surely get more and attach them to my new tank when I get it. The 10 gallon tank I have now is going to be a growing tank for plants and quarantined fish that seem to be ill, but for now I am going to keep my 10 gal as my main tank until the new one is found and purchased at a low price. Plus, I don't really have the room for a bigger tank in my room. Thanks again for the help, Good night and good luck!
