java ferns killing my bettas?

alright so after my halfmoon betta died i moved one of my crowntail boys to it. nows hes looking sickly and acting the same way the halfmoon is. params are 0 ammo, 0 rites and 20 rates. the only thing i could think that might be doing it is the java ferns. there supposed to be toxic to fish arent they? mabye this should be in the plants section i dunno. any help immensly appreciated!

Mine live happily with java ferns. I have never heard of them being toxic. I have some type of java fern in every tank.

Toxic when ingested, it's possible but no betta would ever try eating a Java fern especially as it is tough. Toxic because it is in the water, no. If it were, we wouldn't be using Java ferns in our tanks.

My rosy barbs eat young java fern leaves. They've done it off and on for over a year, with no ill effects, other than making my java fern look ragged.

You said that you moved a crowntail into a tank where a halfmoon had died? Maybe the halfmoon had something contagious that's now infected the crowntail. What are the symptoms?

if there was something that was contagious and you moved the new fish in too quickly it could be possible that the new fish got it from that.

it was a few weeks afterwords sorry i misworded that. he just sits at the bottom and only moves for air is really the only symptom. the diagnosis for my halfmoon was age but im farely sure this guys isnt age...

Maybe stress from moving from one aquarium to another?
