java moss and java fern

i have a 37 gallon tank and i want to grow java moss for sure and maybe some java fern. Is a 100 watt bulb enough? Also, the fish i want to get prefer "subdued" lighting...how many watts does this mean for the fish...(pearl gourami, h. rasbora, kuhli loach...but i'm not sure about the oto cats...). Also, my hood isn't made for a 36" tank, so it doesn't go all the way across (i have the remaining part covered...don't worry :) ) will this be a problem?

100w bulb? i am guessing thats just a reg bulb. you should switch it to one of the power compact screw in bulbs. told they now make them up to 42watts. put a couple of them over the tank and see what happens.
 
okay, sry about my other posts lol, i don't even know what i was saying. Okay...my light is 24" long, but my tank is 36" long because the hood i have is from a different tank. i found a light on bigalsonline.ca thats 75 w for a 24" light. Will that be sufficient to grow java moss and java fern. Also, will it be a problem if my light is off the the right a bit, because its not as long as my tank so there will be no light directly over the left side (approx. 12" will not have light directly over it)?
 
first of all the other guy thats replying to you seems to be talking to you like your a child. I wouldnt take anyone seriously that finds the need to pust religion on an aquarium website.
now, the light you have is 36" but the bulb is 24" thats normal in standard, cheap hoods. as far as your fish go give them a little bit of drift wood or plants(real or fake) so they can escape the light if the want, but with a with a light like that dont worry to much about them. Java moss and fern only require minimal amounts of light to grow and they grow slow. so you are in good shape. as far as the length of the light, you will also be fine. Because you are not planning on plants that require large amounts of light the water will refract the light from the short bulb to illuminate the whole tank.

i dont like telling people wht they should do to the tanks if i have no idea whats going on. java moss can flaot on top to give shade to the fish.
