I recently asked my LFS to order some java Moss with their next shipment. They calle dme back and said they checked with their supplier and they said that it was illegal to ship/sell Java Moss. Does this sound like a bunch of BS to you? It does to me.

I guess I'll have to start with the "Take a plant, Leave a plant" thread:)

nope its illegal in CA aswell since DFG fears it will get into local water ways and take over

You can easily get a clump off of ebay.

Don't worry about it, most of my fish are technically illegal for me to own. My state has a short list of fish that are legal to keep! The same goes for plants. It is stupid, because I live where tropical fish couldn't survive in the native waters but goldfish are perfectly legal. There is a small unorganized group trying to change this, but I'm not keeping my fingers crossed.

Anyway, if you want some moss pm me. As long as the men in black aren't monitoring this thread we should be safe ;)

how could this stuff takeover anything? sounds fishy to me...

It takes over a planted tank in a couple of weeks if you let it. It grows rapidly in most conditions, and adheres to everything. I have spent a good 8 months trying to erradicate it from my tanks, and every week I go home and have just as much as I had before. If it got into a nutural waterway that met it's temp requirements, I could see it taking over very quickly. Then we'd have to plant anachris to choke it out
