Just curious if Java Moss will grow well in play sand....

It is the white "Sterilized" play sand I got at Lowes here in AZ. I believe it is "plain Vanilla" silica sand but not sure... So far my Anacharis, Corkscrew Vals, Wisteria, Java Ferns and Amazon Swords are growing furiously.....

135g, 2.2 WPG, no CO2, cycled for 3 weeks, very small ( so far ) fish load, 8.0 ph, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 5.0 nitrates and dosing 2 ml of Flourish once a week....

1 Pleco
2 otos
4 panda corries
2 kuhli loaches
6 black skirt tetras
7 white clouds

Any advice would be welcome.

to my understanding, some people that actually "plant" java moss into the stustrate come up with the java moss being dead under the stubstrate, so it doesnt actually plant good. it does look nice on driftwood tho

Thanks for the replies.

I was hoping to get a patch growing in the front of my tank and then eventually divide it up into random clumps throughout the tank.... ah well, I can always use a bit more drift wood anyway... :D

Or use a rock/java moss/ hair net sandwich.
