Java moss info pls.

are they easy to care for?
do they need lots of light?
or will morning sunlight be enough?

just bought some...
do i just tie themn to a wood? also can they take current from a powerhead?
 
My advice: don't over load the tank with it; tie it SECURELY to wood or stone; a light coating, once rooted will cover the object under the right conditions.
If you over use it and don't tie it down well, it can become a nuisance and clog filters and get into places you never intended it to be.
It does not require a lot of light. Don't know whether 'morning sun' will do the job for you however.

how long before the java moss holds on??:)
a little frustrated with my moss,
since some of it keeps getting loose:(
i used some nylon strings to tiethem... but some still falls off...
do they spread rapidly?
 
It should hold on within 2 weeks. That's the "problem" with it, it will contiuously grow and pieces become dislodged. It doesn't grow too fast and if it's getting long (the trailing pieces tend to be the ones that fall off) you can trim it. The little pieces that do fall off will settle somewhere and start growing there.
I have a piece of wood with java moss on it. If it's getting too long and bushy looking, I take the wood out of the tank and put it into a bucket with water. That way the moss floats as it would in the tank. This way, you can trim it easier without getting all the pieces all over the tank.

You can throw it on your walls and mist it with water to keep it moist and provided it isn't too cold, it would grow there.
