Java Rice Fish

I have some. like neutral ph, temp of 80s and a heavily planted tank in which to scatter their eggs

I got three of them today. After borrowing Dr. Axelrod's atlas I have decided that these are Oryzias Javanicus. The blue eyes and the almost glass body are a dead give away. I might get a few more in the next few days and set up a new species tank for them.

nope thats actually the incorrect name. those are simmilar but the ones that were pictured on the first page with the eggs hanging are actually Oryzias Melastigmas

I see a man who bought them from the breeder listed them as that, but I am pretty sure only Javanicus has the blue eyes. That is definitely a trait on these guys. What characteristics would prove that these are melastigmas?

LOL!

What fish store do you work at?

Since you have not posted any photo's of the actual fish you have it's hard to tell what you have but if the females look like the fish in the photo that Onna Shinigami posted then they are melastigmas. In fact, if you tell me what fish shop you work for I can most likely tell you EXACTLY where the fish you have actually came from.

Here is an old auction I ran for them, with all the information you will ever need to know, regarding these awesome fish in it-

How do you think these would get on in a tank with cherry shrimp? I'm a little worried about their prolific reproduction. Do they breed out of control like endlers?

If you started with a couple Pr. it would take quite a long time for your tank to become "out of control".

I got a male AND a female by fluke last night. I was buying a couple of guppies for my tank, and they just hopped in the net. The girl at the store was so rushed with customers that she threw them into my order for free. They're so cool, and the female's -already- got eggs going on! I love them already.
