JD color

It could be that the light coloured one is not healthy or it is just the non-dominate fish out of the three. Usually dominant JD are a dark colour. Are the two dark ones beating up on the light one? If so, then the light coloured one is probably being stressed and is not showing its colour. JD along with other species of fish change their colour to indicate their mood. Set up lots of hiding places or get fast moving dither fish to give the light coloured one a chance to rest.
 
I have 2.They are supposed to be male/fem.. One is darker.He will run her into cave.her colors are light.But he can turn pitch black.Took me awhile to figure them out.<setting and watching them alot>LOL

In my experiences yes.She does whatever the male makes her do..Like stay in the cave,,raise fry.

the blue spangels on the gill plate is a good way to tell. Males will have less, if any.
