I was reading the article on the site about breeding JD's and it said to keep 6-8 together until they pair up and reach sexual maturity. My question is this: how large is a JD generally when it reaches sexual maturity? 3"? 5"? 10"? and what age is that generally?

It has been ages since I did anything with Dempseys but it looks like around 5 inches.

The article in the above link is inaccurate. Jack Dampsey is a central American fish and is not found in Rio Nigro or Amazon basin. Male can reach 10+ inch but will start breeding at half the full size.
