jellybeam convicts?

jellybean convicts are just pink/white convicts that have been dyed. they are genetically the same as regular black convicts, just a color variation. black cat, white cat, black dog, white dog. if you dye a poodle pink, it's still a poodle.

but i have to ask - are these actually convicts or parrot fish/convict hybrids?

parrot convict mix. i got a new one today nice male with a pretty nice hump on his head. hes trying to get with the black convict females but there not really showing any attention. on the other hand i moved my other 2 jellybeans into the 10g tank so they can have babies now.:headbang2: ill try to get some pics later!

there's absolutely no guarantee that those fish can breed. even laying eggs doesn't mean the eggs are viable (alive/able to be fertilized and grow) and more than likely the males are sterile too. if you want to breed fish, do your research and buy some that can actually get the job done.

plus, what if you get "lucky" and they do breed?
what are you going to do with the babies?
not many people will want what you got, except as feeders.

well i moved the 2 of them into a 10G tank all by themselves and they have been in there for about 5days now. they have a pretty huge nest around the flower pot! the thing that i dont get is that the female gets her tube down and then ill look later its almost up? is something wrong?

10 gallon tank ? oh man, way to small to breed anything but small fish like guppy and such. I have a blood parrot and they need a large tank 55 gallons to start with.
Sorry, got any pics of your fish? if there breeding or he wants to he must be pretty big, and 10 gallons is way to small :(

10g is fine for a single pair. convicts are known for breeding in small areas and not really wondering away from the nest! all my breeding pairs have spawned in that 10g tank that i have had in the past. i could possibly get pics either later or tommorrow!

dude - you've already said you DON'T HAVE convicts! you have convict/parrot hybrids. they get bigger.

there in a 10g breeder tank! were ive had(regular convicts) pairs spawn basically 2Xs the size of the pair i have now. im thinking about taking those 2out of the 10G and moving my other REAL black convicts in that tank since they seem to wanna spawn in the 55g.

she finally laid and it looks like the male fertilized em!:grinyes: for such a small fish she layed alot!
