Joel's 40 Gallon Breeder

Haven't posted an update in a long time, so thought I would share. Here's a brief history of my reef tank:

Started a "40g regular" tank with a sump and in-sump protein skimmer
Ran for a while with inverts, fish and a few simple corals
Had various pest algae
Sump started leaking (!!!) so disconnected and ran sumpless for a while
Moved contents of tank to a new 40g breeder (by-product of the move is now much less algae)
Running that now without a sump (also no protein skimmer)
Inhabitants include a few snails, cleaner shrimp, bi-color blenny, snowflake clown pair, two scissor tail dart fish, zoas, frogspawn and a brain coral

So you just have rock and flow? Don't see a HOB or anything.

Thanks, man! Yes, at this point I just have the LR and flow. There's a small chance I may need to get rid of the tank entirely (which would be sad), but if that doesn't happen, and I start to see problems, I'll probably look at HOB skimmer or something.

I love that tank! Simple, clean, and amazingly well built and natural looking. Truly a great tank

Yea, all I have is rock and flow as well. 30gal, 2 fish, 21lbs LR, 1 powerhead, filter for flow (no medium). I plan to move it to my moms house and to put medium in the filter when I get it there, but until then it's going filterless.
