First, the website link is not the issue, but the ufo captured on one scene of the movie is.

The non-zoomed Windows Media Player shows it better.

Give it a look....

Wow, UFO's can even fly onto sound stages with painted backdrops. Truely the aliens are superior to us.

Do you know, without a doubt, that the background is "painted"??
Why couldn't the background actually be "natural"?
;)

Joe,

I must be missing something, where is the film clip on that website??? Maybe when they decide to colonize earth, it will be with millions of John Waynes?? :joke:

I actually own this movie and while I must admit that I can't be 100% certain that clouds in the sky always have to move or that the mountains shouldn't always look exactly the same, I do think it is a backdrop on a sound stage. But that doesn't mean really tiny aliens can't have flown in for a look. I mean remember that move *batteries not included, those aliens were certainly tiny.

I, for one, welcome our alien overlords.

This comes from a guy who has a giant tree/spacecraft as his avatar, tho... take that with a grain of salt.

Did you review that part of the movie showing the ufo?

Ok.. The article thinks it is not a backdrop. Which would be less expensive..

There are some interesting comments in the article.

FL Knifemaker, the WMV clip is near the bottom of the article..

What's also interesting, is the way the 'object' moves. Seems like many describe these quick turns on their sightings too. If it's faked, they did good research - in my opinion.. :D

My husband, who is a movie buff, says Rio Grande was done by Republic, and would almost certainly have been done on a sound stage. Back then it was more expensive to go out on location, so what they could do on the sound stage they did. As for the background scenery, it was probably used in multiple movies, further keeping costs down.

Also -

You can plainly see the ufo moving behind the brush or bushes on the left. I wouldn't be so sure as to say they used a "backdrop."
