I was curious if i could condition my SD's(silver Dollars) to noteat the plants. Ive had my SD's for about 2 months now and they have doubled in size, growing very nicely. Ive never had them with only plastic plants and they like use the plants as cover and shelter. I figured they would eat any plants anyways so when i was pruning my 20g's plants i dropped a few nive green leaves into the 55g as a treat. The leaves are all still floating around, some are on the filter suction. The SD;s nor the Angels have nibbled. When i 1st dropped the plants i saw the SD's rush toward them but they didnt eat them at all. Im thinking that ive conditioned my SD's only to eat food that its been eating for the moajority of its life I.E. Bloodworms shrimp flakes. Suprisingly enough i hear SD's ar e only herbvibors, only eating plant matter, but they enjoy bloodworms and baby brine shrimp. Ill keep the forum posted on conditiong. Im going to add a small java fern or some other aquatic plant into the 55g and see if t can survive.

On another note when i had the 2 SD's and 2 Angles in my 29g i was conditoning them to be moved to the 55g. I was trying to improve their growth rate by feeding highquality foods, fresher foods. Id feed more often and do water changes more often. For the SD's in 2 months they've doubled in size and i predict they'll double the current size by nov giving a triple size in gowth in just 5 mo. The male angel had very short fins due to finrot and in 1.5 mo he has regrown all his fin, he now has the longest fins in the tank!.

Ill keep the forum posted on the growth conditioning as well. FYI i was conditioning the angels for the 55g for breeding, I wanted to make sure they were sexually mature and a reasonable size for breeding :-)
