Journey's journey into SW Aquaria

no worries thats why we're here to help.
are you going to add more cured lr to in the future?

i went through your thread again and your lr has alot of live on it. you have plants in your lr which mean you shouldnt do w.c cause plants need those nitrates to thrive.

Ooohhh see what I'm saying! I read and read and still so much more to know. I'm only going to do the water changes when it really starts spiking and then not go too crazy.

I am getting another 20lbs of LR in about 2 weeks. I'd hoped it would be just another week but I slowed my cycle up accidentally. Boo. I'll also get my CUC at that time and am uber excited about that!

I'm not even getting the extra LR till it's cycled. I'm too paranoid to rush.

Oh...I might have forgotten to mention...this method of cycling is supposed to take 10 days to 2 weeks.

what i meant is if your going to get another LR then theres a possibility they might be some cycling going again because of transportation(die off) its better to get everything together and call it *real cycling*. hope this helps

well it depends: in your cause it could take only 2 weeks due to small tank and fully cure lr. in my case i have 75 gallon with 99% cured lr and it took me a month and i waited another month to be 100% sure.

Definitely. I'm going to have to keep up with the water tests to be sure it's safe to add anybody. The rock I get is never out of water...packaged while in the ocean and delivered to me the same day it is shipped out. It totally rocks! Still, there is always going to be SOME die off (especially with sponges) so I'll have to keep an eye on things...

Next time you take a picture, would you please take a "full tank" shot so we have a good picture of quantity, shape...
Depends on how your rock turns out, I might order from them. Thx Journey.

I grew up in Florida and loved it. My dad and I used to collect items for his tank from the beach and jetty...before it was illegal and we realized how harmful this could be to the ecosystem. Still, it was great bonding time. I found a baby puffer fish once that ended up in our aquarium and learned which jelly fish you could pick up and which you couldn't. Great fun.

Anyway, I live in NC now...still got shipped rock same day so if you want it it can happen. He ships via air to your nearest airport. You take a ride to the airport to pick it up. Viola!
