Actually, that is how I set up everybodys tank, as I like them to look like my tank!
Everything in the tank is from here in the Gulf/Keys off of the aquaculture sites.
The little fish came in the last load of rock I brought back from the Keys, cute little cardinal...made the seven hour trip home in the rock barrels on the boat!

Yes, all the tanks I set up.......The Package gives you a very stable environment to be able to keep the critters I include. There is usually very little ammonia during the cycle, results in very little initial die off, and ability to handle the life.
All the critters I use are very hardy, and do well in this environment, sea fans and gorgonians are especially hardy, you have to be to live in the Gulf of Mexico!

I don't agree that they make good beginner inhabitants, especially if things like flow and lighting aren't added to the equation. But I certainly don't expect to have everyone agree with me on that.
Well I can see your point from the way most traditional SW tanks are set up.
Using imported rock and bagged sand, requires much curing/water changes/chemistry swings..can be weeks or months to become stable for adding the critters one wants....but
when using real live sand, collected from the bottom of the Gulf, and real live rock, that is alive and full of life...and harvested/held/shipped properly..<under water>...you have a whole different ball of wax.....
Unfortunately, there is not enough dive days to supply the market with cultured live rock, I just cannot produce enough. I supply only consumers, as they appreciate it most. I turn down multiple "wholesale" orders in the thousands of pounds as I am a one man show here....and do what I do for the end user.....as I used to wholesale...but stopped about 10 years ago, and just sell to the consumer.

HEY! Neat to see you in here! The tank is doing great. I got to do my first water change last night. It's about time, right? Ammonia is just creeping up to 1 so I'm WCing to keep it below that. Just did a sponge sniff...can't find anything dying off yet but am on the alert. Wish I didn't have to go to work this week...I just want to stare.
I'm glad you are here to answer some of the group questions...I can make guesses but that is all!
I'm going back to do some more identification...
Note to self: the flat anemone is a rock flower anemone. Will be doing some research on keeping these guys happy.
