I've never see a starfish like the one on the purple tree.

Here are the shells included in the package for the hermits to try on. We even found a shark's tooth hitchhiking in the mix.

man that tank looks awesome!...
id order from those guys based just on your tank...but since mines around 300 gallons, i will never be able to afford the "package" let alone shipping to missouri...
so when ya adding fish, and what kind?

I'm not sure...I'd like to see the tank super stable for at least a week or two. Right now I'm doing water changes to maintain stability.

I'm definitely getting a clown, either a goby or a blenny of some sort and that might be it since I already have that cutie baby cardinal in there.

Any fishie suggestions? My sand bed is about 2-3 inches.

heh i dont have any, i was trying to pry some out of you...
i think im going to go with some chromis, and either a blenny, goby or jawfish, or a combination of the three.. depending on the compatibility, and whether or not my tank will suit them.. and after the tank stabilizes for a couple months, i will definately do some butterflies, and probably an angel or two.. i dunno for sure..i want something big, but reef safe and that wont eat my smaller fish, snails and crabs.. and hearty , but i think im asking too much there..lol..
we kind of have two different problems on the other end of the spectrum from each other,.. you cant have large fish, wich is fine for a reef, but you cant have too many small ones either... where i want large fish to fill mine, but cant have anything that wont destroy a reef....

I'm dying for someone to get a porcupine puffer fish...that's an awfully big tank you've got there...

Update on cycling process

I got the package on Friday night and today is Monday. I did my very first water change Saturday evening I think and I have done one Sunday morning and evening and again this morning in order to keep the ammonia below 1ppm. I can't find anything big dying off so I'm just assuming this is the normal part of adding bunches of life all at once. Even the sponges appear healthy.

I went to my LFS to get water today (here's a surprise for everyone...they were out so I have to go back later). He is totally confused...he's like...5 gallon water changes? Twice a day? No, honey...just let the ammonia spike. I tried to explain that this is a different process but...you know how it goes. I may just need to splurge on my own RO filter...he has them for 80 dollars for a small one. What do you all think?

Update on life in tank

So, no obvious die off yet, even on the sponges. Of course, I'm not totally sure what to look for and the sponge trees are hard to get at to sniff.

The decorator crab has decided that the orange sponge previously on his back just won't do and he has switched to lavendar sponge. It was hysterical watching him stick it on his head and them squish it down with his hands trying to get it just so. Between the two crabs, the caulerpa is gone. I'm trying to decide if I should order more...

The fish seems good...he has found good hiding spots and comes out scoping for food. He has a little white on one fin but I can't tell if that is just his coloring or something to be worried about. He is eating and active.

The anemones look GREAT...especially the condy. The tan one is gaining more color and is eating stuff out of the water right this minute so that seems good. The feather duster finally got in a good viewing spot and is out filtering all day.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm getting attached to everyone and don't want any losses! I have some concerns about the purple sea fan (the one that looks like what washes up on the beach not the thick gorgonia) because I'm noticing fewer polyps out and filtering since I changed his location.

Oh, I'm making a mantis trap tonight. Click, click is going bye bye. Maybe the LFS will want him
