you know... topping that soil with moss or even riccia might help a lot with keeping that fungus at bay. i thought of that earlier, but got sidetracked (obviously, lol).
Would riccia grow in an acidic, nutrient free environment? If so, this could open up some really cool possibilities...

i've got it growing in a sammich baggie with just wet sphag taped to a window. gave it to mom 2 weeks ago and she called me yesterday just to tell me it's growing. sphag was soaked, squeezed to just barely dripping and dropped in the bag... easy enough. i spritzed it once in about 3 months.
i also have it growing in my terrarium with sphag, coco fiber and coco croutons and daily misting via mistking.
to add to that it's growing floating and submerged in my 30 without any carbon at all. it really has been one of the easiest plants to keep healthy for me... and very versatile.

if it's going from aquatic it may seem a bit rough at first. just remember it's a liverwort so any tiny remnants of the plant constitutes an entire plant eventually. either way it shouldn't get too bad before it gets better as long as it's kept pretty moist.

That looks awesome! Does it spread rapidly? I'm thinking about using it as a topper in a couple of my plant pots, but I don't want it to take over. It could be really cool for the neps.
nope, not a rapid spreader. ime it's best to plant it like a forground aquarium plant... small spots spaced out. every once in a while you can break up your spots to spread it further. it definitely grows a lot faster floating.
it's also not very tall either so don't have to worry about it being invasive that way either. actually hc might be taller terrestrially... it's pretty close.
